The open mosaic, in matter, form and colour. A research entirely from Ravenna.
A portes ouvertes
12 and 13 October 2024
The project
Continuing the idea of the exhibition organized in 2024, dedicated to some mosaic artists from Ravenna, the organizing committee of the Festival Le Printemps Italien invited Sandro Malossini to curate and organize an exhibition within their Festival, in its sixth edition and now considered one of the main cultural events in the city of Bordeaux and New Aquitaine. Also in 2025, therefore, the exhibition will investigate the contemporaneity of the mosaic of Ravenna origin, expanding the number of artists and works on display so that visitors can appreciate the different stylistic figures and the various declinations of mosaic art.
From the collaboration with Claudia Agrioli, owner of the Pallavicini 22 Art Gallery exhibition space in Ravenna and president of CARP Associazione di Promozione Sociale, the idea was born to present the exhibition in the city of Ravenna also, in the spaces of her gallery, on Saturday 12 October 2024 on the occasion of the TWENTIETH GIORNATA DEL CONTEMPORANEO,the great event promoted by AMACI - Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums and realized with the support of the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture and the collaboration of the Directorate General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
At the same time, the opportunity was offered to present the exhibition also at the Galleria Civica d'Arte Contemporanea in Viadana, which uses large spaces and will be able to host a larger and more comprehensive exhibition than the one organized in the Ravenna location.

Galleria Civica d’Arte Contemporanea MuVi – Viadana
MuVi was founded in 2003 following the renovation of the former elementary school building of the capital inaugurated in 1908. Located in the center of Viadana, it is divided into three floors, for a surface area of approximately 4,000 square meters and two courtyards.
On the mezzanine floor and on the first floor of the south wing is the Luigi Parazzi Municipal Library equipped with reading rooms, a children's room, a media library, newspaper library and space for videos and music. On the first floor of the south wing in the detached section is the Ancient Book Fund considered the most important in the Province of Mantua for its manuscripts, incunabula, fifteenth- and sixteenth-century books. In the basement of the south wing is the Municipal Historical Archive. The north wing, on the mezzanine floor, is occupied by the Galleria Civica d'Arte Contemporanea, a venue for exhibitions, with a space dedicated to the Permanent Collection of twentieth-century works and a multimedia room where conferences and debates can be held. The first floor of the north wing houses the Adolfo Ghinzelli City Museum, which collects cultural testimonies of the territory, and the Antonio Parazzi Civic Museum with its heritage of fossils, archaeology, bronzes and Roman finds as well as an important numismatic collection, the Art Gallery of works by artists from our territory from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century, the Textile Collection, the Lodovico Viadana Fund and the Music Room, a space for concerts. On the same floor is the headquarters of the Daniele Ponchiroli Foundation, which plays a role in promoting events. The spatial and functional unification of all the institutions, while maintaining their specific autonomy, can ensure more targeted programming for cultural activities.
Spazio espositivo Pallavicini 22 Art Gallery – Ravenna
Claudia Agrioli inaugurates the Pallavicini22 Art Gallery exhibition space on October 5, 2019 with the aim of redeveloping the neighborhood through the dissemination of the arts.
The space, very bright and equipped with 19.5 meters of Cliprail aluminum track with steel ropes and zipper hooks, is located in Ravenna near the railway station along the tree-lined avenue that leads to the MAR - Museum of Art of the City of Ravenna.
In 2019, the collaboration with the photographer Domenico Bressan began, who documents all the most important moments of the Exhibition Space. This was followed by collaborations with Roberto Pagnani, artist and collector, curator of the Ghigi-Pagnani Collection Archive, who is now the artistic curator of the exhibition space; with Luca Maggio, curator and art critic, who today coordinates the literary projects organized at the exhibition space.
Since March 10, 2022, with the establishment of CARP Associazione di Promozione Sociale, the programming of PALLAVICINI22 is organized in conjunction with the Archivio Collezione Ghigi Pagnani. The space is granted to artists upon invitation and the already consolidated organization is made available to them. The space and the internal garden are made available for private events also.
Since 2024, the collaboration with Felsina Factory of Bologna and with Wundergrafik of Forlì has been underway.
Prieuré de Cayac – Gradignan
Cayac is one of the jewels of the city of Gradignan and the most important heritage of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Aquitaine.
Built in the early 13th century south of Bordeaux, Cayac was a hospital before becoming a priory. It is also a refuge for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela and for all travellers heading to Spain. Today, the renovated buildings house places of cultural and community life, a lodging for pilgrims (ten beds), thus reviving the tradition, and the Georges de Sonneville Museum.
The interior of the Priory is not accessible to the public except during announced events (European Heritage Days, guided tours, temporary exhibitions, etc.)
The entire site of Cayac, including the church, the castle, the Georges de Sonneville Museum, the Cuvier and the Agritourism of the Pilgrims, is now classified as a Historic Monument (prefectural order of February 2022).
