MIRCO DENICOLÒ

Le voci dei pozzi

from 2 to 10 September 2023

The Exhibition

Mirco Denicolò conducts research focused on the graphic dimension of ceramics whose starting point is the drawing intended as a meticulous preparatory phase, a moment of creative analysis, but also an element of activation of a wider process projected in a transmedia direction. Through pen drawing on paper, the artist delimits scenarios and invents characters, composes stories by combining memories and suggestions taken from his personal experiences and collective memory, giving life to stories in images which he then translates into ceramics. In this subsequent phase, the quick stroke of the pen slows down in the skillful and calibrated gesture of the design engraved on the surface of ceramic slabs inked by third firing. A translation of the sign that requires extended research time and precise steps to be performed in sequence in order to bring the work to full completion: from the selection of the bodies, to the composition of the glazes up to the calibration of the firings.
