ANTONIO BERTONI
Figure IV
From 22 to 30 July 2023
The Exhibition
Invited to exhibit his works at Pallavicini 22 for the CARP Aps project "LET'S SUPPORT YOUNG TALENTS", Antonio Bertoni presents a series of paintings made on draft paper prepared and transferred onto an MDF support.
Bertoni paints an allegory of life where the two ages - youth and mature age - come to merge into a single body thus creating timeless entities.
In his compositions Bertoni demonstrates great pictorial mastery in the anatomical construction of forms, managing to "act" with a single color / non-color which is ivory black.
His modern masters of reference are, among others, Domenico Rambelli, Francis Bacon and Alberto Giacometti.
In his work we perceive the presence of the painter with consolidated experience, despite his young age.
The Artist
Antonio Bertoni is a young figurative artist, born in Faenza (RA) in 1999, who is attending the painting course at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna after graduating from the "Antonio Canova" Art and Music High School in Forlì.
The choice of a figurative painting was immediate like that for the exclusive use of the color black in order to remain anchored to an original humanistic vocation of art and to achieve a timeless formal synthesis and without precise and specific relationships with the contemporary world.
His "figures", faces or more complex compositions of bodies, intend to reaffirm the insignificance of the subject and the anti-heroic attitude that characterized the art of the 19th and 20th centuries.
